Project 52/2

Gown Time

Watching the Oscars this week (oh my there were some beautiful gowns, and let’s be honest, some questionable decisions too) I felt I had to make something a little more glam!   I find I am often inspired by fabrics, and when searching through my collection of lace I found these wee bits of beautiful beaded lace and knew they had to be used!
This gown will be available to purchase through facebook from 8:30pm this evening, see facebook ( www.facebook.com/sarahhortondesign) for more details.

Project 52/1

Lovely Ladies

So, first week of Project 52!

With Auckland Cup Week just around the corner I have been doing a lot of work on outfits for the races.  I love that such occasions give us women a chance to really dress like ladies.  This inspired me to create something a little lady like.

This one-off dress was available to purchase through facebook but you have to move fast these days! She sold within minutes.  Dress #2 will be up next Wednesday at 8:30pm, see facebook for more details.

Dreaming of Paris

Dreaming of Paris is a collection of made to measure gowns.  I was very lucky to work with such a talented team, special note has to go to the gorgeous Billie Holland who sadly left NZ the day after this shoot in the pursuit of overseas adventures and Saadi De Silva for pulling it all together.  So many pics from this shoot it was hard to pick just a few, so I added a few more. xx

Beginnings of a Blogger

I figured it was about time I gave this blogging thing a go.  Being slightly technologically challenged it had not been high on my ‘to do’ list but I feel finally the time is right to get one started.  I aim to share with you original images of my own work and the things that inspire me.

One of the main reasons I wanted to get the blog started now is a wee challenge I have set for myself, Project 52. This project entails creating a different dress each week for; yes you guessed it, the next 52 weeks.  Whilst the idea of committing to a yearlong project that needs to be updated weekly does frighten the commitment phob inside of me, the challenge I find makes up for that!  I can’t wait to see how the styles change over the year, how my surroundings and what I am doing each week influence what I design.  The first dress will be up tomorrow! Wish me luck! xx
